APARTMENT 22: Autumn/Winter 2018-19

The cover of Apartamento 22 features a work by the Spanish artist Nazario Luque (Castilleja del Campo, 1944), widely considered one of the fathers of the Spanish underground and protagonist of the countercultural movement in Barcelona in the dark years that marked the end of the dictatorship in the '70.

The cover is a panel from his 1990 comic, 'Helena: Shadow in the Plaza Real', whose story takes place in the often infamous and always lively square in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, which Nazario has adopted as his home and source of inspiration for over 40 years. We have republished the comic along with an interview by Pere Pedrals and photographs by Daniel Riera.
